Auto-resume quit working with VLC upgrade

I very much want VLC auto-resume capability (for reasons I won't go into atm, it's a much bigger deal for me than it would be for most people).

I had auto-resume working using an earlier verison of VLC.

However, after installing VLC 2.2.1, auto-resume quit working.

I initially got auto-resume working with an earlier version of VLC, I installed the Resume Media V3 plug-in, and followed the instructions I found on some web-site for enabling auto-resume.

Auto-resume worked great.

After installing VLC 2.2.1, auto-resume quit working.

Auto-resume is now a built-in feature of VLC, according to the site: [http://addons.videolan.org/content/show ... ent=165231],

However, I cannot get auto-resume working.

I don't know whether it must be explicitely enabled in VLC, or is supposed to be "always on".

I have found nothing in the VLC interface to control auto-resume.

Also, I have been unable to relocate the instructions I used to enable auto-resume with the Resume Media V3 plug-in.

I have no idea how to interact with the plug-in (other than to install/remove).

I don't recall whether the plug-in interface is integrated with the overall VLC menu system, or whether one somehow activates a plug-in specific dialog that deals solely with a respective plug-in.

Do insructions exist anywhere, for using auto-resume with the new VLC (with or without use of Resume Media V3)? I probaly want the additional features provided by Resume Media V3, but the description of them is vague, so I'm not certain.

I seek real instructions, not something that refers to "setting X", without providing context. In other words, instructions that specify menu-paths, beginning from the VLC top-level menu.
