m3u8 audo file problems

I am having a problem with m3u8 audio files.

Let me explain,

When I try to play this file "http://playlists.ihrhls.com/c5/1465/playlist.m3u8?" VLC stops playing after 49 seconds or about a minute, more or less.

VLC plays the file fine. Then, at about 49 seconds (sometimes 29 seconds) there is a glitch in the sound. At this point it either stops playing or continues to play for a little longer and then stops. No buffering. It just stops.

I have tried multiple m3u8 files similar to the link above and the same thing happens. I tried it with Rhythmbox and the same thing happens.

I cannot figure out whether this is a problem with VLC (and other external players) or whether the audio links are being blocked from playblack from external media players.

I suspect the latter (I think the audio files are being blocked from playback from external media players by the company),

I am using VLC 2.1.6 Rincewind.

Does anyone have any answers or suggestions?
