Using VLC Player in Browser

I'm trying to play an embedded video using VLC. The video simply has a black screen with the traffic cone logo in the middle. Everything looks like it should work but nothing happens when trying to play the video.

Help would be appreciated.

Run the browser, like Firefox, in command line.
