Debian Linux and Transcoding into AAC

Postby thenewme91 » 22 Sep 2005 02:11

Hi all,

First, I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked and answered in this forum.

I use Debian Linux (Stable/Testing/Unstable) and the VLC Package from VLC (0.8.4-svn20050920-2).

I have no issues with playing any audio and video files, but when I transcode the audio from a video file into a mov, and use any format other than mpga (e.g. AAC (A/52), mp4a, which are the formats I want to get working, but I've tried them all) no sound appears in the resulting file.

Am I missing some sort of helper program, or something?

I know that it's possible to do this transcode, because in the latest Windows release, I have transcoded the file into this format also.

I've also tried 0.8.1-svn20050314-1, to no avail.

If you suggest I downgrade to a working older version, I have no issues with that, except for the fact that I want to encode the video into h.264 (with x264).

Thanks in advance for any replies.
