other h.264 codecs?

Postby northernlad » 21 Sep 2005 10:37

Is it possible to compile VLC with alternative h.264 codecs instead of x264 whose svn server does not seem to work these days.

thanks.

VLC uses ffmpeg for h264 decoding, and x264 for h264 encoding. Other methods are not possible atm.

Anyway, x264's svn-server should be up and running all the time, since it is the same VLC is hosted on and I didn't notice any problems.
