Ubuntu VLC crashes in one second with some files

Some video files, for example with info below, crash right away on startup. Other files work fine. The same files that crash here work with mplayer but the time scroll-bar on smplayer does not work for them. Vlc coredumps. Running under gdb shows coredump in libvlccore. 64 bit Ubuntu 14.04 LTS updated to recent. All these files worked fine in vlc of 2 or 3 years ago under Fedora 12. I think the problem is with the codec but I'm loading libavcodec-extra-54.

The stack is corrupt, either because it got smashed or because the debugger failed. See the "@entry" values which are the correct ones.

Either way, the stack trace is not very helpful. Please try with an up-to-date VLC version and/or provide a legal sample.
