VLC connects to 3 cameras internally, only 2 over net

Postby ClioDex » 21 Dec 2014 21:56

I've run out of of ideas, but this seems to be an issue with VLC. I am running 2.1.5 (Intel 64bit) on OS X 10.9.5.

I have three webcams (2 from D-Link and one from Belkin). I'm running PFSense as my firewall/router and DNSexit for my dynamicDNS service.

Internally I can connect to all three cameras with VLC and stream their video. Externally, I can only connect to two of the three cameras with VLC using their dynamic DNS address. Each camera is assigned a different port on the camera and in the firewall (80, 8080 and 8000).

The problem is with the D-Link DCS-932LB1. The other D-Link is a DCS-931L. Both cameras are configured the same as are the entries on the firewall for port forwarding and rules.

The really odd thing is I can connect to the DCS-932 if I use a web browser externally. When I try to access the DCS-932 over the Internet with VLC it generates the error "Your input can't be opened. VLC is unable to open the MRL.." followed by the address to my camera.

Thanks for any ideas. After much head banging this has me stumped.
