Dual Monitors with 2 Fullscreen Output files

Postby barnaclebarnes » 16 Sep 2005 03:47

Hi,

We are looking at putting together an instore display with 2 screens. Our setup would be this:

- PC
- 17inch LCD Monitor
- 30Inch LCD Monitor/TV
- Audio out to Stereo

We want to be able to schedule and output various streams for both monitors and audio. For example:

- on screen one play a set of product videos full screen and then repeat
- At the same time on screen 2 play a different set of videos full screen.
- At the same time on the audio play a playlist of mp3's

Then on the second screen at certain times we would like to stop the product videos and mp3's and then play an advert with the audio. After this is finsihed we would revert back to playing the product videos and mp3's.

I can see from the docs that it is possible to control VLC from the command line so I think it should be fairly easy to write a scheduling shell script to set things off at the right time. Is it possible to say what screen the output should go to? Can you run multiple streams at once (I think this is a yes)? Also if I was running 2 x Videos and 1 x Audio stream what sort of processor speed would I need?

I'll start to put the system together next week and just want to make sure I can acomplish what I need using VLC.

Thyanks,
Glen
