unable to read video files on fc4

I've installed VLC and i can read mp3 without any problem, but when it comes to video i always have the same behavior :
a few sec (3 to 5) while nothing really happened (perhaps some audio is read) and VLC crash.

I'm confused.

Any idea ?

ups i forgot to mention, im using 0.8.2 version.

linux is Fedora Core 4.
