Files in my playlist were moved;how can I get them [Solved]

Postby Quanijuana » 19 Oct 2014 02:25

So recently I've created a music playlist through VLC using files from my internal harddrive. Later on, I've moved all my music to an external drive. Obviously, the result is that when I open this playlist, the files can't be opened and played, and I'll get error messages like:

File reading failed:
VLC could not open the file "[Redacted].
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:[REDACTED]'. Check the log for details."

I can assume that the playlist is searching through the same location for the upcoming file that is to be opened, but it's been moved, which causes the error. But is there a way I can change where the playlist is trying to search for the file?
It should be noted that simply replicating the playlist with a new one isn't a possibility- there are too many files in it.

EDIT: Okay, I've found a rather long solution, but a solution nonetheless. I was able to open the xspf file in notepad, and replace all the old location keywords (ex: C:/) with the new ones. If anyone has a simpler solution though, it would be greatly appreciated.
