How can I automatically record played videos?

Hi,

I am currently trying to find a method to automatically record a (not always running) livestream from a website autometically.

I already found a script that detects if the stream is on or not and if, plays the stream in VLC media player. It's working great.

But how do I set VLC up to automatically record any played video/medium? I thought of a using a makro, but the record and stop-recording option is sadly at the same position =(.
