Suggestion: Mark seen videos as seen

Postby SunStar » 10 Aug 2014 20:00

I have a suggestion for VLC and that is to add on to VLC the option to mark seen videos/media as "seen".

One way this could be done (and likely not the simplest way) would be having the VLC icon change color for media that has been seen. You could even fill the VLC icon with color based on how much of the video has been seen (considering the icon is a striped cone I think this could look rather nice).

Similarly, it would be very helpful if VLC could remember where you were in a video.

If plugins or addons of any kind already exist with these options, my apologies and would you please direct me to them?

I would love to hear your comments!

Thank you very much for your reply and interest. I know this post is very late.... xD I had trouble logging on to this forum and then life got overwhelmingly busy and time just flew by!
Happy New year! (Hehe.)

At any rate, I would find the mark most helpful if it appeared on the VLC Icon that appears in front of videos associated with VLC in Windows Explorer. That way you can see in one glance which you have seen, and which you have not.
If having a changing Icon would be problematic, another, perhaps similar way to do it would be to have whether it is has been seen or not show up somehow in the "Status" part of Windows Explorer's details. For that, however, users would have to be notified to right-click on the folder -> Sort by -> More -> then tick "Status". As most will likely have this on off. The benefit of having this would be that you could then also sort your videos by whether or not they have been seen.

Using the "Status" idea would mean that the percentage of video seen can be displayed as well.

Sorry again for this very late reply. I hope it is not too late!
