aacplus stream 'recv failed' error loop

Postby drizzle » 05 Sep 2005 11:48

vlc 0.8.2 on Windows 2000

After listening to the Groove Salad aacplus stream for many hours, sound suddenly stops, cpu maxes out, and messages window shows "main error: recv failed (10054)" repeating over and over.

netstat shows open port, but remote addr is 0.0.0.0

Hitting stop and then start restarts playback.

I guess 'something' happens that causes the link to drop, but vlc doesn't seem to recognize that fact and just loops trying (and failing) to read data.

I hope the above is sufficient as a bug report - any questions?

Also, an addendum...

After an occurance of this looping error, I hit stop and play to restart stream playback. The *next* time it happens (during the same program invocation) the program window is unresponsive - I can't hit the stop button. If I then try to close the program, windows reports it as 'not responding' (even though it is consuming all cpu).

BTW, the aacPlus stream in question is

0.8.4 which is now in development fixes quite a few network related problems, which i think this might be one of. You can download a test build here:

Thanks for the pointer. I downloaded

/build/win32/trunk-20050904-0126/vlc-0.8.4-svn20050904-win32.zip

Started playing the stream, let it run overnight, this morning it was looping again with the same "main error: recv failed (10054)" message.
