Hi again,

Perhaps this will help. I down loaded the latest version of VLC 2.0.7. Running it of a Toshiba L55 with 8.1. Movies are on a Toshiba external hard drive. Problem. VLC, no matter what I have tried (including setting GPU), will not play through a movie. It will play so far and then freeze. A error window pops up indicating 'file read error: VLC could not read file (bad file descriptor), Interestingly, I can restart the movie and move it to just before the freeze spot and it will play through that very spot with no problem until such time as yet again it will freeze.

I have checked the drive and files and all seems fine. What am I not doing or doing wrong? I never had this problem with my old system that ran Windows 7. I would appreciate any suggestions and/or help I might receive to overcome this problem. Someone please hep the boy!

Thank you one and all,
Paul (a.k.a. ignorant me) :(
