Embed LOCAL XSPF playlist for use in Digital Signage

Postby rblanda » 09 May 2014 17:33

Hi, VLC'ers!

Let me preface by saying that I adore VLC and every one of you for supporting the product. Great stuff.

My question is this: I have 5 offices with large screen televisions, each connected to a PC. I created full screen HTML pages for these that run company announcements and such, and the system is great. However, I want to play local High definition MP4 files that I have assembled in a XSPF playlist through VLC. When I open the VLC player, open the playlist file, all plays great.

However, I need to embed the code in the HTML page that I have and I cannot seem to find the correct embed code to load a XSPF file in a html website. Remember, our files are LOCAL (on drive C: - c:\sign\videos\video1.mp4) and the playlist is pointing to them just fine. Also, I don't want to have to use Apache or IIS - that's overkill for what I need. I had that running and it was more of a pain.

I just think I don't have the correct Embed code in my HTML. Can someone give me a sample script that I can try?

Specs of the player PCs:
Windows 7
VLC (latest version)
4 GB ram
Using Chrome in KIOSK mode

Thanks to all of you for your help!
