With VLC for iOS 2.3, we upgraded the decoding backend. While previous releases used the current version still deployed in our desktop releases, the current iOS version is using the decoding backend of the future, which we will release for desktops in about 6 weeks.
Apparently, this bug was not noticed before, but we will fix it for the next iOS update and of course the desktop releases.
What's a bit confusing about all this, is our numbering scheme: VLC for iOS 2.3 uses libvlc 2.2, which will be released as VLC 2.2 to our desktop users, while VLC for iOS will move on to 2.4 very soon (while still using libvlc 2.2).
