activex in Delphi

I have tried to run the activex in delphi, but I got a pointer error
when I place the component on a form.

Can anyone help me.

you didn't specify the version of VLC you are using, but if it is the last official release (0.8.2), the activex plugin does not work well outside of Internet Explorer. the ActiveX plugin compatibilty has improved since and I would suggest that you try the latest nightly build from:
