VLC is unable to open the mrl

I am going absolutely mad, I dnlded the VLC media player as instructed by Microsoft Support, I had a problem with the installed dvd player and it needed more drivers than available from Microsoft. I put the first DVD in and up popped my movie just like downtown. However, that is now the only movie in my collection that plays (works), all the other dvd's just sit in the drawer and do nothing. I have been searching for an answer for two weeks until I came here. Does anyone have a clue why just one and only one movie will play on the VLC player, anything at all, I am all ears.

You aren't having problems with the DVD region code that is embedded are you? Where are you located, and where did your DVDs come from? Can you play them on any device?
