2.1.3 "has stopped working"

Postby banem » 04 Feb 2014 22:26

Windows 7/32, quite clean installation. During upgrade of 2.1.2 to 2.1.3 I got a message that 2.1.3 "has stopped working" (during install process). When I try to run 2.1.3 I also got the the same message.

Then I went to downgrade to 2.1.2 and also same message. Finally I first removed any trace of VLC and did a clean install of 2.1.2.

Why is this happening?

Hi,

Im having exactly the same problem! Error message appeared while doing VLC update, now it doesn't even open.
Have deleted preferences folder and uninstalled/reinstalled so far...any other ideas?

On Windows XP Pro 32-bit the ugrade from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3 has a pause where the other posters are getting the "has stopped working" message. It goes on to finish the install. When 2.1.3 is run it opens a Command Prompt box and VLC is in CLI mode. Multiple attempts at uninstall/reinstall of VLC 2.1.3 produce the same result. I had to reinstall 2.1.2 to regain the use of VLC in GUI mode.
