Auto enable graphic equalizer for video

Hi,
I use the graphic equalizer for when I watch video (to compensate for low speech volume), once the video finishes VLC plays music (as I have it on play randomly forever). This is fine but I'd like the equalizer to turn off for music as it distorts it. I'd also like the opposite so it turns on automatically for video. I guess having the equalizer change its levels depending on source would also work
Is this or anything similar possible either natively or with a plugin. I'd rather not write one myself but might give it a go if I have to.
