Volume

Postby pumbaa74 » 05 Dec 2013 23:59

Hi ,
since the 2.1.1 update my volume bar has gone from 200% down to 125% .
Has anyone else had this issue ? or does anyone have any ideas how to rectify this ?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times , but no luck .
I put in a support request and was told to adjust it in settings , but there doesnt seem to be any way of doing this .
Have i missed something ?
Cheers
Pumbaa

Tools -> Preferences (Show settings = All) -> Interface -> Main interfaces -> Qt
Then at the very bottom of the right panel set the Maximum Volume option.
Save, exit and restart VLC.

I have tried the above several times , but only got as far as the qt interface .
I dont have an option come up to even go to the bottom of the page let alone set the volume . i just have the box
marked interface module and a save and cancel button
Cheers

Thank you for this insight. For future readers, may I suggest that when you reach the show all window in Pref, that you type into the search box on top left either QT or maximum volume. When you then select the QT in the left half frame you will see the option at the bottom of the right frame. Was able to reset volume to 300%!

Thanks for pointing out the option to change this.
I use the VLC media player to listen to recorded calls for Quality reviews and sometimes the recorded volume is so low that 125% made it still difficult to properly hear what was being said. Now with this, it is great that I can go to higher volumes again.

I will try the settings change that has been outlined above, but would request/suggest that the DEFAULT "maximum volume" be returned to 200% on new updates...!
I regularly play a downloaded radio program with low volume levels. Even with my computer hooked up to kick-a** JBL speakers, I routinely use a volume level of 150% and higher.

I recently purchased Microsoft Surface Pro and the sound quality is horribly low. I've learned that no matter what media application used, VLC included, the volume is limited to 100%. After setting the preferences in VLC to show up to 200%, no matter how high I set the volume level once 100% is hit the sound level will not increase. Is it possible there is another setting in VLC that would allow the VLC player to override the system volume?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Regards,
Pete
