Even though sourceforge isn't used anymore, it might be nice to either somehow warn the 500K/week downloaders from there (ref: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vlc/)
that 1) the project downloads have moved or 2) just upload the latest versions there, even though they're not mainline, so that people still can accidentally get the latest, or leave a message there somehow "downloads have moved" or what not. well, if you care about the 500K, which may not be enough to worry about.
