DTS & the Law

Postby daaceking » 12 Nov 2013 11:03

Hi,

I understand that DTS has an issue with compressed audio on DVD law or whatever. I'm guessing this is american law. I'm assuming Videolan being a french project/organisation follows french law. is DTS compressed dvd audio issue perfectly fine under french law, which is why libdca is inside latest vlc releases? How come Dolby doesn't bother you?

just interested in law/vlc etc

thanks :-)

Yes, it is fine. French law does not recognize software patents.
