VLC as default audio player

Postby grayghost2 » 06 Oct 2013 02:48

How do I make VLC the default media/player ?
  • Windows Media Center (wizard) assumes I want MS
I had hoped to disable Windows MediaPlayer
I have just modified my Toshiba's "Startup" and "Services" settings, to improve start up and resolve screen-refresh lag.

• When I place a legal commercial music CD into the CD/DVD drive ... wheels whirr but the CD does not play.
• Opening VLC and browsing to the CD/DVD drive ... wheels whirr but the CD does not play.
• Legal DVD movies play through VLC perfectly ... BUT ... when a DVD is inserted I am offered two options, Windows Media Player (default) or VLC.

Toshiba came with 20 Toshiba "features", which most are simply bloatware.
Would a screenshot of my "Services" settings be of help ?
Maybe some of my "tweaks" have sabotaged playing DVD movies?

I would appreciate any help,
Thank you :)
