movies open small and play with lower resolution ...

Postby Ron Wolpa » 31 Aug 2013 05:35

I was used to play .avi , mpg , etc movies with my old computer ,they seemed to have a good resolution.
A couple of days ago I changed all my hardware by a brand new (64 bits) , installed win 8 and the latest VLC player.
I had a surprise as I opened movies I was used to watch on my old hardware with good resolution , as they opened smaller than usually and with much lower resolution.
It was common to drag the corner of V L C to enlarge the screen to the size of my 19´ video monitor without significant loss of quality.
THe same happens with windows media player , despite I configured vlc to be the default player for most of the video standards , I gave a try on wmp just to see what happened.
Any suggestion on how to solve this matter ?

First, reset the preferences:
http://wiki.videolan.org/Reset_prefs

Then try another video output module:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... _output.3F

And/or disable/enable GPU acceleration:

You can also try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.

And finally you can try VLC 2.1.0-rc1.
