a-b loop only repeating first frame and a possible solution

Postby corey » 29 Aug 2013 18:17

I been having a problem with A-B loop functioning properly. I solved and wanted to share how I fixed mine.

I had a cleanly installed win 7
downloaded VLC
and the a-b loop would not work properly it just repeated the first frame in most cases especially the commercial dvds

I personally found an outside fix for this problem by accident
I am not encouraging anyone to install it without first checking it out.
ffdshow_rev4500_20130106 was the install I used.(I scanned it with avast home it said it was safe but I have no idea if it is or not) after installing it, the A-B loop function worked correctly on all the videos I have tried.

I have NO IDEA why this is the case I am programming illiterate.
this is something to ask the dev team since they know the vlc coding.

I suspect VLC by itself is missing something to properly do the A-B loop and When installing the FFdshow it plugged in or filled gap for what ever was missing from VLC.

This solution was purely an observed cause and effect, I have no idea why it worked.

I only mentioned FFdshow because it was linked to a lot of threads in the "search of this site" and as far as I can tell it is listed as open source.
