Playing files with ftypdash header ?

Using VLC 2.0.6 "Twoflower"
Recent Youtube clips saved from my browser's temp cache folder [ie. C:\Documents and Settings\AdminZ\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache OR C:\Documents and Settings\AdminZ\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\wq9hlmqq.default\Cache] fails to be played, when i rename the files with .flv or .mp4 extension.
The header viewed with a Hex editor usually looks like this

The same files URL opened with "Open Network Stream" dialog in VLC player plays the clip just fine with
http://addons.videolan.org/content/show ... ent=149909 > playlist_youtube.lua Updated: Apr 4 2013 in the vlc /lua/playlist folder

the saved playable FULL HD clip [ie. Tools > Media Information > copy and paste Location in browser] has a different MKV ? header though
