What is the instance status after finish vlm play

Hi all,
I'm using vlm to encode a list of record file and implement a event handler to catch the encode complete and then change new media.
But the vlc instance seems free after finished one file, I can't call change_media and add_broadcast again and I have to call libvlc_new again.
Is the vlc instance auto-free after vlm_play finished?
