Blips in sound

Postby colagero » 26 Jul 2005 16:45

Hi, I just downloaded VLC this morning because we recently bought an external DVD drive and the iDVD program will not recognize it.

So far I've had some problems with it crashing or just not playing.

Right now, it's playing dvds fine except for 'blips' in the sound. I checked the surface of the disc and there are no scratchs or prints. I've tried playing it more than twice and the 'blips' are still there. They seem to occur every second. Very distracting if you're watching a movie.

We are using a G4 iMac and a LaCie d2 dvd drive with a firewire connection.

Is there any way to resolve this problem?

Thank you for your help.

Jess

I'm sorry, I failed to specify that we are using Tiger and the dvd's we use are commercial movie dvds-specifically Mansfield Park.

I have put other movies in and the 'blips' are still there. When I say, "blips', I mean it's a split second lack of sound, repeated.

One more thing, when we put a Muppet Show dvd in, takes a longer time to play it and the picture freezes at the menu page. I click on it with no response. The music plays though.

Thanks again,

Jess

Does MP3 play as it should?

I don't know. I only use it to play dvds. I honestly don't know how to play mp3s on it.
