TS file plays only from external drive

Postby voldemarz » 01 Apr 2013 14:42

I have a 4.87 GB ts file that I seem to be able to play only when I copy it to an external drive (connected by USB3). If try to play the file from the main drive the VLC starts and seems to be playing (play button appears pressed, eg turned into pause), but there is no sound or video.

I looked into Media Information. In the Statistics tab the Input/Read numbers are changing (discarded and dropped stays 0) all the rest are ).

Also all the codec info wasn't retrieved (not sure why track is in latvian "celiņš" since interface language is english, according to google seems to be some really old bug)

Here's the same data when played from external drive

VLC version 2.0.5
Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64
The CPU is Intel i7 2630QM, so well capable of playing it.

Any idea what's happening?

NTFS. I had deleted the file. Wanted to test again, so I redownloaded and now it worked.

I am having the same issue again. Again it works from external drive, but not from main drive. I also tried to copy to an empty partition on local drive which was lying around in case I install Linux for dual booting and it didn't work.

Also updated VLC to latest 2.0.6.

I don't know if it is related, but update since update to 2.0.6 I cannot get browser plugin working. Tried reinstalling and downgrading back to 2.0.5 and 2.0.0. No luck.

I found this topic with other people complaining about missing plugin in 2.0.6 viewtopic.php?f=16&t=109811&p=372800&hi ... in#p372800

After indication hat there is a updated 2.0.6 build I redownloaded, reinstalled and it worked. Would have been nice if there were a message on donwload page, version number bump or something like that, otherwise I didn't think to try to redownload the same version.

The TS file still doesn't work though.
