defining playlist format

Postby Exilant » 28 Mar 2013 09:49

Hi there,

I have all my media Files stored on Networkstorages and play these files from various PCs, and I save a playlist for e.g. audiobooks to play files from multiple directories (CD1;CD2;CD3;etc.) for contignious play.

VLC creates playlists with absolute paths. Some of my pc run on different Linux distributions and there is also a windows machine. Absolute paths have to be "hand-fixed" into relative paths.

How can I change this so that VLC saves paths in playlists relative to the directory where the playlist will be saved in?

PS: I have also some questions about .mkv files (in gerneral, not VLC specific). Does anybody know who might could help me with this? I asked the great google oracle but its answers didn't match what I was looking for.

Exporting relative playlists is not implemented, I am afraid. You'd have to patch it yourself.

Hu

... man!.. Thanks for the answer, this means lots of work for me! I will have to fix playlists for roundabout 300 Audiobooks and 500GB Music. Where the suggestions section? :)
