Setting VLC as default player

Postby Banaticus » 09 Feb 2013 20:47

http://wiki.videolan.org/How_to_make_VL ... ult_player has some
good suggestions, but there's a really easy way to do it on a Mac.
First, make sure that VLC is in your Applications folder. Then, click
the Apple -> System Preferences, then in the Hardware section click
CD's/DVD's. Then just choose "Other Application" from each drop down
list and scroll down to VLC. The list is alphabetical, so it'll
probably be at the bottom. I tried creating an account on the wiki,
but I'm apparently not autoconfirmed yet even though I verified my
email and I can't even contact an administrator. I tried going to
irc, but there was literally nobody in the irc channel.

The above was what I tried to email to the list, but the list only allows registered users to post to it. You all sure make it difficult to edit the wiki, but then I could see that a wiki might be difficult to maintain when some of your administrators haven't edited for years now.

We locked that page to prevent scams and misleading information.

Thanks for your hint with regard to optical media playback. I merged the information in a slightly rephrased manner :)
