Basicaly VideoLAN looks like it would be perfect for this purpose. All we need is the ability to playback MythTV's custom MPEG4 nuv (NuppelVideo) files in Video LAN. As far as I know it is a custom nuv based format which is basicaly divx/mpeg4. Some people use hardware mpeg2 cards, in which case the mpeg2 is wrapped into the nuv format without transcoding.
I haven't tried the mpeg2 based nuv files in videolan yet, but they probably would work. My main goal is mpeg4 nuv files. So what do you developers think

A lot of the groundwork is already done as far as I see it. On one side there is MythTV, a full fledged media center for a linux computer/TV, with an advanced interactive web interface. The files are based on major nuv/divx formats, so adding support shouldn't be that difficult. If I can help in any way let me know.
