COnfused about snapshot

Hello,

I am using VLC on Windows (long story) because of lack of USB Video Capture module support in Linux.
There are a few posts about needing to take a snapshot on demand. I read somewhere that the function is broken and somewhere else that the script/program would delete the snapshot right after creating it.

I would like to know if VLC supports taking a snapshot while it is streaming video. For example: http://192.168.1.33:8080/?action=snapshot would return a single frame. Similar to mjpg-streamer

Is this possible? Is it broken? Does it work?
