Howto bind foot switch to VLC?

Postby spade » 18 Dec 2012 14:47

Hi,

I got a USB foot switch which I like to use to control VLC's start/stop and other functions. This works fine as long as the focus is on VLC, but I like to use a word processor on the side to record things about the movie I watch.

How can I get the commands from the foot switch to go to VLC instead of to the word processor? I don't like to have to put the focus back on VLC manually (and then back to the word processor again and so forth...).

The foot switch can only send keystrokes like Ctrl-x, Alt-x, Shift-x and x.

Please advise.

Kind regards,

Frank

Set the global hotkeys in the VLC prefs.
