Saving edited videos.

Postby jabberwock xeno » 17 Dec 2012 15:39

I've been using VLC as a video player, to which it works great, but I can't seem to EDIT anything.

I have some files I need to deinterlace, and save into another, more common format (preferably with lossless encoding. Some of them also need color correction.

So, I turn the deinterlace on, I go to the filter menu and make the HSVC adjustments, hit record, hit play. etc. This does indeed saves the video in a more usable format (From m2ts to mpeg), but none of the video edits are applied/

I try to use the convert/save menu, and the only option i'm given is output format (speaking off, I think my presets may be messed up, I accidently messed 2 up and deleted one, and some seem to have their bitrate set to 0), and to deinterlace (what type?). I can't get this to work, either. It just exports the video to a EPS (.ps) file, with varying file size from 0 to a few megabytes. Checking raw data input or whatever results in a EPS file, but the video is there, and can be read if I open it with a video player, but again, the video isn't edited in any way that I can tell.

Also, I read that VLC player has the x264 encoder, but I can't seem to find it/.
