Deleting files from Playlist

Newbie here. I have a playlist, which consists of three different groups of the same files and I wish to dispense with the surplus two files, but I don't see in the menus how deleting files in a playlist can be performed. It said to drag them to the Trash........doesn't work ! Surely this is feasible. Can anyone help ? Thanks.

OK, was able to find the solution myself. All I needed to find out was that if you closed the VLC the contents of the playlist would disappear.
