usuability enhancement

Postby jongampark » 10 Jul 2005 08:17

Hello.

Recent change in VLC UI raised overall usability of the VLC player much.

However, there are many things remained.

Let me suggest some of them.

1. the Preference

- contents should be categorized in better way
for example, it is somewhat wierd that the preference has a field for subtitle file to load. Isn't the subtitle file for individual media file?
Things in preference should be something affects the VLC preference globally.

2. VLC playlist

It is nice now. However, if you click a movie file and try to attach a subtitle for it, you can't. Because the property of a clicked item doesn't provide a way to attach a subtitle file.
Drag & Drop should work for attaching sub title files also.
If the GUI present the existence of attached subtitle file, it would be good.

3. the file open dialog box.

on MacOS X, the default file open dialog box gives too wide dialog box

4. subtitle encoder chooser

If intended languages for a group of encoding methods are same, they should be grouped together.
For example, CP-949 which is MS version of Korean EUC-KR, sort of.. is in different group than EUC-KR and ISO-2022 KR.

Also, if the VLC UI provides default UI a user can set, it would be great.

Thank you.
