I have been using VLC a number of years and no problems, but know I have no sound! I have uninstalled put new version on and still no sound :-) My sound works perfect on all other programs, can anyone help please?

Make sure VLC is not muted in VLC. Also make sure VLC is also not muted in the mixer of your operating system.
