Multicast stream problems over powerline

Postby jon222 » 10 Apr 2012 15:18

Hi,
recently I bought powerline/homeplug adapters (TL-PA211) and used it instead of wifi between router (DL-524up) and PC. I wanted to speed up the multicast TV, the provider provides SAP announcement for udp streams.
So I connected it, internet works perfect, but the udp streams don't. I use vlc 2.0.1.
This is what happens:
- Usually it loads the SAP playlist, but after clicking on it, the stream does not load.
- Sometimes the SAP playlist does not load
- Once it happened that the udp stream loaded, but after restarting vlc, it doesn't work
The thing is when I connect directly with ethernet cable SAP loads immediately and streams work ok, the same if I use only Wifi, everything works.
Then I tried to connect IPTV set-top box with the router over powerline, and the IPTV worked perfectly.
Then I tried this:
- I connected the set-top box with router directly with ethernet cable
- Connected pc with router over powerline
- Switched on the TV set-top box and TV worked
- Then I opened vlc on the pc and SAP playlist loaded - I clicked on the stream and this happens: Set top box TV stopped working, the powerline adapters where flashing like crazy, it looked like there is mega traffic that flooded whole local network, but no stream was loaded. No normal settop box TV, no vlc TV, just flashing everything.
I tried it on Win-7 and OS-X, with same results.
I have no idea if the problem is vlc that cannot comunicate wtih powerline or the pwerline itselft, but with the set-top box it works, so I don't know how to locate the problem.
Is there any other player that can play udp streams to check if it will be possibly working?
Appreciate any help how to fix it.
