Reinstalled vlc but now can't double click files to open

Postby zlloyd1 » 08 Apr 2012 07:32

I was having an issue where my VLC Player had just randomly stopped playing wmv files, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled the latest version. The problem now is, that although it now will play the wmv videos, I cannot make playlists of videos and save them to my desktop as icons to use, because clicking the icons does nothing at all, just like clicking the individual file for the video does nothing. Even if I right click the file and choose open with.... VLC Media player nothing happens, the player won't open now from an external click on the file. Can anyone tell me what in the world has happened here PLEASE???? :?:

Can you check from registry if the Open does something like

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --started-from-file "%1"
for the chosen file association?
