Here is an example of a YouTube video that still doesn't play (Media > Open Network Stream):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Dwy-H30TA0
Interestingly, if I try to stream it and I hit play, it shows the thumbnail, but that's it.
I tried changing the .luac file but that doesn't help.
Thanks, that youtube-dl program looks very useful.
As mentioned before, I believe you can avoid 2FA by creating an account with GitLab.com (https://gitlab.com/users/sign_up) and using that account to log in to code.videolan.org.
Tell you what Vampiros: why don't you do the honours and go file the bug for us?
P.S. Having a Gitlab account doesn't allow you to escape the 2FA requirement on the code.videolan site.

Your word is my command. Bug filed (https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/issues/26060) with screenshot added later. I hope I didn't forget any details.
And amazingly, this was done with a GitLab.com account but no 2FA was requested or required.
Thanks for the upload.
Interesting observation: I downloaded your log and then ran the same yt link to create my own log. My log contains the CONSENT PENDING flag while yours doesn't. Here's a pix of the two compared.
I've always assumed that it's the same consent cookie problem, but your log would seem to disagree with that.
I'll have to have another go at opening a Gitlab a/c. Maybe they've changed their policy and have dropped the 2FA requirement.
VLC 9-3-21
Hello everyone.
So the past couple of days I have been trying to get YouTube to work on VLC and I've had absolutely no success. I have tried everything from older versions to the current version. I've even upgraded the youtube.luac to the latest version and still no luck. I always get a error 403 or it just doesn't work at all. I am at a loss on what's going on here. Can someone please help
I've been experimenting with this on Windows 10, but unfortunately it won't work on Linux either
Would appreciate any help anyone here can give me
