1. It is included; So I uninstalled 1.03 and reinstalled .9.9 and everything was fine then this morning the logo that I have trouble seeing comes back. 2 Questions
1. did the program go get the the logo without asking or is the logo included in the program.
2. If i learn to compile the program on my own, Will I be able to change the logo?
Remeber the only problem that I have is seeing the new logo, I'm colorblind(can't see red) and it's too small.
How about a big Christmas type hat??
1st jan is enoughWhy don't you people who don't like the icon just change the date on your computer to 7th Jan (I assume it will go away then) and then change it back when it really is the 7th?
amen.Developers add easter eggs to cheer you up, but all you do is complain. How disrespectful.
Besides, a santa hat has nothing to do with religion. It's just a symbol of joy, presents and spending time with your family. I wonder if some people also consider candy canes offensive?
Keep the hat!
I laughedamen.
oops...i mean...right on!
Recompile VLC and stop bothering us.Well, I am not christian, nor muslim, nor anything but flesh and bone, but I must admit that the feature annoys me because it reminds me of getting fat eating too much giving eachother junk while atching starving and dying people on T.V... It does not match my mood or my exquisitly simplistic desktop.
Now that I see there is no way to remove it, I will bear because VLC is really the best player around.
I hope this does not turn into a let's add Jewish, Muslim, Budhist, etc... holidays icons, cuz' I like my software nice, clean and laïc (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La%C3%AFcit%C3%A9).
Cheers,
why are you being a so --please stay polite-- stupid sarcastic --please stay polite--? JESUS CHRIST! dont u like it, dont use it! did you pay for it?NO so dont --please stay polite-- use it.Allmighty j-b,
I appologize if I bothered you, I will recompile as your ordered, as I am blessed by thee enough to know how.
I will now live in the fear of the allmighty "J" and stay close to my compiler. I will also take an oath to keep a sense of humour in 2010.
Allez... Bonne année (grégorienne) !
So, VLC's change is harmless. => No notice1. Any "easter egg" which permanently affects user preferences should provide notice. If the change is harmless and leaves no permanent effect requiring user intervention, it doesn't need notice.
Which is what VLC does. It is totally clean, doesn't do anything in your back and doesn't download anything. It doesn't even change your icon association.2. Any "easter egg" which makes changes should undo itself cleanly, (in this case, restoring the user's icon associations). The nature of an "easter egg" done properly (as opposed to a logic bomb) is that it's harmless and leaves no permanent trace.
VLC is not broken. And this is not an easter egg.An "easter egg" which makes changes that a user has to "repair" cannot be reasonably called an "easter egg".
What? You are kidding...I hope a VLC primary developer takes responsibility and rips the broken thing out until it can be written correctly.
VLC is not done by a company, but by volunteers that do that on their free time...Remember when Microsoft, Real, and Netscape were blasted for pulling the same behind-the-back system preferences switches?
