Hello!
Is there a way to run cyrillic subtitles on a ELEMENT 7 tablet? The tablet itself can read and use cyrillic but i cant find a way for VLC to read it.

Did you change the encoding in preferences?

Yes i did, but it turned out the problem was not in the application, it was in the tablet. I fixed it, now everything works fine! :)

VLC-debug-20130517-0117.apk seems to be working perfectly on my HTC EVO 4G LTE (jewel) w/ Android 4.2.2 (AOSP). VLC for Android in the Google Play Store still shows it as incompatible for "Sprint HTC EVO", however, yet the beta builds and nightlies have actually been working well for this device for quite a while.

Is it possible to upload zip file (zip with best comperssion method) in nightly build? Most of us download nightly build daily and consume more data uses. Most of the time we have to use mobile data plan to download it. So it will help to save the data.

I have a samsung note 10.1 tablet, and just downloaded from play, and it recognises all video files on SD and memory, haven't played much, but so far no problems

Tiniest of things... When brightness is adjusted by 'gesture', the on-screen notice doesn't have a space between the word 'brightness' and the value (0-15) as it does with the volume.

Will be fixed for next release.

Running it on a Galaxy Tab 2 (7). When manually opening a stream to a VDR server it works. When VLC is used to open the same stream from another app (AndroVDR) it plays for some seconds and then stops.
On my Archos 43 the same stream when opened manually also stops after a few seconds.

Oh and please let vlc remember manually opened streams.

[edit]
Next day. I enabled debug on the Archos. Now it kept playing for 10 minutes (a VDR TS stream). Well sort of (skipping of audio and video) since his tablet is probably too slow.
All logs show it stops with OutOfMemory error in enlargeBuffer.

hello..
i just want to give feedback about the VLC for android verson 0.1.1
.....
its good it can play many video and audio formats..
the most dominant feature of VLC among any other android video player is its Ordered Chapter video playback capability..
as far as my experience on many media player for android, VLC was the only one that played(or joined) ordered chapters...

and below these are the things that i found not working well or not really working
1. Japanese subtitles.. they are displayed as small boxes. I tried changing the subtitle text encoding to japanese EUC-JP,Shift JIS, and 7 bit jis but nothing really worked. It still displayed small boxes. Maybe i suggest here to add Unicode support format on subtitles.

2. It also doesn't work well on videos that are encoded in 10bit depth(i tried in 480p and 720p).Though it works well on 8bit encoded videos.

----------------
those are the pros and cons that i've found while testing many video codecs/formats/resolutions....
my phone is LG Optimus LTE 2(kinda outdated).
phone specs are 1.5Ghz dual core,2GB ram, and GPU is Adreno 225...

Please upload a sample file.

Perhaps your phone's hardware is not capable enough of decoding 10-bit depth videos? Also don't forget to try hardware accelerated decoding in the preferences.

Hi I would like to test VLC on my Nexus 7.

I have tried downloading VLC-debug-20130416-0120.apk which was suggested for another Nexus 7 user but it is no longer available.

I Managed to install an 1.1.apk I found online which works fine except it doesn't continue playing in background which is a big thing for me I specifically was looking for a player that has both double speed and background playback as I am listening to classes and taking notes at same time on my nexus.
Thanks

Hello,
Hi I would like to test VLC on my Nexus 7.

I have tried downloading VLC-debug-20130416-0120.apk which was suggested for another Nexus 7 user but it is no longer available.
You can always get the latest ARMv7 apk (suitable for nexus 7) here: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/armv7-android/
I Managed to install an 1.1.apk I found online
Try to avoid any random sources of VLC apks, since they could be repackaged with malware and other nasty stuff.

Thank You edwardw,
I removed the foreign apk I found online and downloaded the latest ARMv7 apk as you suggested.

So far it works great no audio or video issues except for the issue I had mentioned before, it doesn't continue playing in background when I open another app such as a writer which is a big thing for me.

I specifically was looking for a player that has both double speed and background playback as I am listening to classes and taking notes at same time on my nexus.
Is it possible to add the capability to VLC? or is the capability already there and I just have to click on some option?

Thanks again

Did you try the "play as audio" feature?
