Is this project DORMANT?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Is this project DORMANT?

Postby alexsott2 » 05 Sep 2006 20:28

Not sure what is going on with this project,

I posted several messages and bug-submit query in the last two months, did not get any reply from developers.

Is this project reached dormant state for now?

How can I get help with issue e.g. described here viewtopic.php?p=80605

Thanks,
~ Alex.

hmm, this project isn't dormant at all. We're busily working on the next 2 release. This first should be finished within the next 2 months and will vastly improve the web-browser plug-ins (among various other stuff), especially the Firefox/Safari one.
Feel free to fetch a nightly build.

Our plugin developer doesn't seem to registered on this forum, so regrettably your posts weren't answered. If the problems are still reproducible with the current nightly builds, mail vlc–devel@videolan.org please. All devs are subscribed to that list.

latest nightly build - still crashing

Postby alexsott2 » 06 Sep 2006 05:29

Just verified with the latest buld and Firefox 1.0.5.6 - still crashing.

however, now it's a bit different - Firefox first complains about violation in plugin, and then crashes.

I'm quite sure he knows about the problem of multiple firefox plugins at the same time. But he is still theorizing how to solve the problem.

Is there a bug submitted for this?

It would be absolutely fantastic to get some traction on this issue.
E.g., what's the status, is it possible to fix it in the nearest future and when exactly this might happen.

Really appreciate the work you do, guys!

Thanks!
~ Alex.

Trac is now open to 3rd party people. Come on IRC and we will give you an account for reporting. More info on trac.videolan.org/vlc
Anyway, did you test the mozilla-plugin with Firefox 1.5.x as well? Does it work better for you?

Yes, it does crash with firefox 1.5.0.6 ... less spectacular though.

"VLC multimedia plugin
The plug-in performed an illegal operation"

VLC also crashes in IE when used as activex.
