Debian sid : menu items missing

Hello,

Since the last update, many menu items are missing, like file -> open file advanced..

I use
# dpkg -l | grep vlc
ii gnome-vlc 0.8.1-3 GNOME frontend for VLC (dummy legacy package
ii vlc 0.8.1-3 multimedia player for all audio and video fo
ii vlc-plugin-esd 0.8.1-3 Esound audio output plugin for VLC
ii wxvlc 0.8.1-3 wxWindows frontend for VLC

Part of my /etc/sourcelist is :
deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main

This bug has been reported by someone else on the debian-user-french mailing list.

Hello,

This is a known (but unfixed at the moment) bug with the latest Sid package.

Workaround: use an english locale or an UTF-8 one, like :

LANG=c vlc
or
LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 vlc
