green line while playing video

Postby kimcheeboi65 » 24 Aug 2006 13:39

When I try playing a AC3 AVI file, a green line is across the video screen.

Any help?

We got a similar report here. Could you also check whether a current nightly build solves the issue for you?

I downloaded the nightlies *dated 2nd September 2006*, and it solved the green line across the screen. it gave me a new problem however, and that is there wasn't an audio output from the file itself. I tried changing to another file where there weren't any issues with the green line, and there still wasn't any audio output.

I'm using a Macbook 17" with OS 10.4.7 and Quicktime 7.1.2... nothing was changed prior to installing the nightlies. upon installing the nightlies and installing 0.8.5 VLC, green line re-appeared, but so did the audio.

so.. any suggestions?

Have the same problem. I had a movie, which was also axxo-ac3, vlc 085 played it with the green line like the screenshot with Russel there, good sound though.

Quicktime played the picture perfectly, but no sound at all. When I tried to install the Ac3 codec (putting it in the quicktime component subfolder), the sound was horrible with glitches, unlistenablle.

Im using an intel imac 20".

Do anyone know of ac3 codec that works with intel? (or when the next vlc player hits the streets:)

UPDATE .... I put the a52 codec found on versiontracker in the library/audio/plugins/components and the sound worked great in quicktime (whick means I just put it in the wrong place first) no more glitch!!

First of all: nicely that the green-line issue doesn't appear anymore. The audio stuff will be restored within the next couple of days. As you can see by the discontinuation of the nightly builds, VLC is undergoing some major changes at the moment.
A new stable release is on the way, but not close to be finished yet. We hope to ship within the next 2 months.

Postby Jodde » 04 Sep 2006 01:24

I had the same problem.
Try download the Mac Power PC version and
it will work just fine. Sound and picture without green line!
