dts decoding was removed from VLC binaries distributed by the VideoLAN project after we received serious legal threats from DTS. You can still play DTS if you compile VLC yourself with the approprate libraries installed on your computer. (or find someone to do it for you)

Hi, Dionoea,

I compiled the VLC 0.8.2 from source code on Linux with ffmpeg which inlcudes the libavcodec.a, but my error is same as Georgef's:

main debug: input 'dts ' 48000 Hz 3F2R/LFE frame=512 samples/2048 bytes
main debug: filter(s) 'dts '->'fl32' 48000 Hz->48000 Hz 3F2R/LFE->Stereo
main debug: looking for audio filter module: 21 candidates
main debug: looking for audio filter module: 21 candidates
main error: couldn't find a filter for the first part of the conversion
main error: couldn't set an input pipeline

Thanks
Jefferrey

you need to have libdca (old name is libdts) to have dts decoding (it isn't included in ffmpeg).
