The problem is still here on version 0.9.6...

--m3u-extvlcopt seems to be unrecognizable, and the following messages are still here...

Code: Select all

main error: unsafe option "dvb-frequency" has been ignored for security reasons main error: unsafe option "dvb-bandwidth" has been ignored for security reasons
I tried 1.0.0 git versions too, on WinXP, the problem is not fixed in those version either...

Any hope for a fix soon ?

There is also a need for a DVB scanner to search for channels. At home I could program this stations manually, but if I am abroad ....

Fenrir gave us a solution in this post:
viewtopic.php?p=173355#p173355

So what you need to find out is the Service PID, aka SID, of the channels. The Tools -> Messages box will help you to find them out. When you open a frequency you should see things like these in the messages log (example from french DVB-T):

Code: Select all

ts debug: new SDT ts_id=1 version=10 current_next=1 network_id=8442 ts debug: * service id=257 eit schedule=0 present=0 running=4 free_ca=0 ts debug: - type=1 provider=GR1 name=France 2 main debug: EsOutProgramMeta: number=257 ts debug: * service id=260 eit schedule=0 present=0 running=4 free_ca=0 ts debug: - type=1 provider=GR1 name=France 5 main debug: EsOutProgramMeta: number=260 ts debug: * service id=261 eit schedule=0 present=0 running=4 free_ca=0 ts debug: - type=1 provider=GR1 name=ARTE main debug: EsOutProgramMeta: number=261 ts debug: * service id=262 eit schedule=0 present=0 running=4 free_ca=0 ts debug: - type=1 provider=GR1 name=LCP main debug: EsOutProgramMeta: number=262 ts debug: * service id=301 eit schedule=0 present=0 running=4 free_ca=0 ts debug: - type=1 provider=Nat name=France 3 main debug: EsOutProgramMeta: number=301
So you can build a playlist like this:

Code: Select all

#EXTM3U #EXTINF:1,TF1 #EXTVLCOPT:program=1537 dvbt://frequency=642000:bandwidth=8 #EXTINF:2,FRANCE 2 #EXTVLCOPT:program=257 dvbt://frequency=490000:bandwidth=8 #EXTINF:3,FRANCE 3 #EXTVLCOPT:program=301 dvbt://frequency=490000:bandwidth=8
service id=257 ==> #EXTVLCOPT:program=257

Would great to have somewhat like a scanner doing this job.
This is ok for a fixed location, but not if you are abroad with your notebook/netbook.

A Kaffeine patch adding S2API and DVB-S2 support, written by one of that application's authors, has been included in the Kaffeine SVN repository. It is available here: http://linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/ ... 29839.html

Read my post you have quoted carefully again. Don't forget to read the logs from the same post as well.

service id=257 ==> #EXTVLCOPT:program=257
This trick doesn't work properly anymore with VLC 1.1.0.
So what is planned to easily store and call DVB channels on Windows with the upcoming version which is in Pre stage already ?

Hello,

Has this been fixed? I get the same error message when tuning a TV channel:

Code: Select all

unsafe option "dvb-bandwidth" has been ignored for security reasons
I don't know what security issues there are setting a bandwidth parameter...
Thanks in advance,

Unfortunately the behaviour is still the same.
I suspect the program= command not to be taken into account since VLC is tuning the frequency properly but tries to open the very first of the available SID and not the requested one.
So we have to manually select the program from the menu each time we want to switch channel, which is annoying as hell...

So, the input 'program' should be allowed

Any news on this? It seems very odd. My playlist in UK (windows):
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:1,BBC ONE
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-bandwidth=8
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-caching=300
#EXTVLCOPT:program=4167
dvbt://frequency=810000000

#EXTINF:2,BBC TWO
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-bandwidth=8
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-caching=300
#EXTVLCOPT:program=4231
dvbt://frequency=810000000

#EXTINF:3,ITV1
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-bandwidth=8
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-caching=300
#EXTVLCOPT:program=8257
dvbt://frequency=786000000

BBC One and BBC Two both automatically choose the right program (SID) but for all other channels I have to manually select the right program which is almost always at the end of a list of other SIDs, none of which work.

Does it work any better with today nightly build ?

AFAIK --program(s) was fixed in yesterday http://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/v ... 02503.html so it should work in VLC 1.1.0

From my tests it is now both better and worse than with v1.1.0 release:

Better because the behaviour described in Say10's post is now gone and the channels are now directly tuning and we don't need to go to the menu to select them,

Worse because some of the channels are not tuning at all, even if they are on the same frequency as another channel which is playing fine. VLC seems to lock on the channel, displays its name and the duration but no video is seen and no audio is heard, and nothing can be changed / selected from the menus.

For instance, in my case, channel 1 is working fine but if I want to switch to channel 7 or to channel 12, which are on the same frequency as channel 1, they just don't work at all. So I close VLC 1.1.1 and I open VLC 1.0.5 and now all of the channels are working fine.

So this commit is a good step forward compared to what we have in v1.1.0 release but it's surely not the final step to me as the regression from v1.0.5 is still there.

Yes I can confirm that --programs at least has some effect now however as lotesdelere says it has not come without penalty. For instance take these 4 channels

Code: Select all

#EXTINF:3,ITV1 #EXTVLCOPT:dvb-bandwidth=8 #EXTVLCOPT:dvb-caching=300 #EXTVLCOPT:program=8257 dvbt://frequency=786000000 #EXTINF:4,Channel 4 #EXTVLCOPT:dvb-bandwidth=8 #EXTVLCOPT:dvb-caching=300 dvbt://frequency=786000000 #EXTINF:5,FIVE #EXTVLCOPT:dvb-bandwidth=8 #EXTVLCOPT:dvb-caching=300 #EXTVLCOPT:program=8500 dvbt://frequency=786000000 #EXTINF:6,ITV2 #EXTVLCOPT:dvb-bandwidth=8 #EXTVLCOPT:dvb-caching=300 #EXTVLCOPT:program=8325 dvbt://frequency=786000000
ITV1 and Channel 4 display as QVC a channel on a 730000000 SID 13120 - Five displays channel five completely normally and ITV2 displays the channel name and programme information correctly but produces no sound or video.

program = PID?

Code: Select all

#EXTINF:3
What does the Number mean in the context?
I found some other Methode:
#EXTINF:1,Radio
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-bandwidth=8
#EXTVLCOPT:program=14109
dvb-t://frequency=498000000

So which is the right one?
