Syncing and Overlaying 2 Videos

Postby franz on Tue Nov 03, 2009 9:46 am

hi,

I want to play a video partly overlayed by another video. Is there any possibility to play two videos (synchronized) in one window?

thanks

Not easily. You can do this via http://wiki.videolan.org/Mosaic

If you use Windows, AVIsynth might be a easier option, but AVIsynth input cannot be played in VLC.

Thank you for the hint.

Do you know if it is still working in the current version of vlc?

The example "Dual webcam with alphamask" is nearly what I want to do, but instead of webcams I want to use two seperated videostreams. Do you think this is possible with the "Mosaic"-setup?

I haven't personally used mosaic but it should work on current releases. And you can replace webcams with any video source that VLC can play.
